About Alzheimer Scotland
Alzheimer Scotland is the leading dementia charity in Scotland. We campaign for the rights of the 90,000 people with dementia in Scotland and their families and provide an extensive range of innovative and personalised support services. We exist to ensure that nobody faces dementia alone.
We have specialist Dementia Advisors across the country who act as a vital lifeline to hundreds of families by offering information, care and emotional support to people living with dementia, their families and carers. Our Dementia Advisors also organise a number of activities designed to improve wellbeing and confidence including Dementia Cafés, allotment projects, singing groups and sport reminiscence networks. We also find vital research into the cure, care and cause of the condition primarily through our world-leading Dementia Research Centre in Edinburgh.
We also work with businesses to help them become more dementia friendly by offering Dementia Friends sessions which helps staff be more aware of the signs and symptoms of the disease and how to better accommodate customers living with dementia. We believe that this is a key aspect to our work to ensure that people living with dementia can live well and be supported by businesses in their local community.
